The cemetery chapel of the New Sudenburg Cemetery , also known as the chapel on the new cemetery , is a chapel on the New Sudenburg cemetery in the Magdeburg district of Sudenburg .

The chapel is located in the northeastern part of the cemetery, near the entrance, not far from the corner of Braunschweiger Strasse and Kroatenwuhne. Otto-Richter-Straße runs towards the chapel from the north, which makes it important in terms of urban development.

History and architecture

The brick chapel was built in 1897 based on a design by the town building inspector a. D. Emil Jaehn in neo-Gothic style at the same time as the construction of the cemetery. The floor plan is laid out in the form of a cross. The building is crowned by a turret with a square lantern , which is covered by a pointed helmet . There is a small stair tower at the entrance. A morgue adjoins the north side of the chapel .

The interior of the chapel consists of a central room, which is spanned by an open boarded roof truss . Parts of the equipment are from the construction period.

The chapel is a typical example of the cemetery architecture of the Wilhelminian era .

In the local register of monuments , the chapel is listed as a monument under registration number 094 82663 .
