Friedrich-Senger-Platz residential courtyard
The residential courtyard Friedrich-Senger-Platz (older name Siedlung Schützenstraße ) is a housing estate in the Barmen district in the Bergisch city of Wuppertal in North Rhine-Westphalia .
Building description
The Friedrich-Senger-Platz residential courtyard is located in the Barmen district in the Sedansberg residential district and consists of five buildings that are arranged in a U-shape. The place was named after the SPD city councilor (1931-1933) and resistance fighter Friedrich Senger on the 100th birthday of Senger on June 18, 1986.
The two sides of the courtyard form the apartment blocks Schützenstraße 35, Friedrich-Senger-Platz 14 and 16 and the apartment block Schützenstraße 41, Friedrich-Senger-Platz 4 and 6, each with a hipped roof . The conclusion is formed by a group of three consisting of the houses Friedrich-Senger-Platz 12 and 8, and set back slightly to the north is the four-storey apartment building Friedrich-Senger-Platz 10 with a square floor plan and a pyramid roof. The two buildings at Friedrich-Senger-Platz 12 and 8 also have a square floor plan and a higher basement plinth and a mansard hipped roof.
The three-storey apartment blocks were given a beige plaster facade, and the window frames and outer edges were set off with gray paint. The hipped roofs are provided with continuous dormer bands. The U-shaped building ensemble opens towards Schützenstrasse in a southerly direction.
history
The housing estate was built between 1926 and 1927 by the Barmen Building Department according to a uniform overall design that is typical for non-profit housing complexes of the 1920s.
On August 21, 1984 the residential courtyard was recognized as a historical monument and the buildings Friedrich-Senger-Platz 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 16 as well as Schützenstraße 35 and 41 were entered in the monument list of the city of Wuppertal under a monument number . The protected position extends not only to the buildings but also to the green area in front of it. The garage extension in front of the apartment building at Friedrich-Senger-Platz 10 is excluded from the preservation order.
