Friedrich-Wilhelm Deutsch (born February 19, 1892 in Berlin , † March 2, 1944 in Valona ) was a German officer , most recently lieutenant general in World War II .

Life

Friedrich-Wilhelm Deutsch joined the army on September 25, 1911. In mid-1913 he was a lieutenant (patent in mid-1911) in Grenadier Regiment No. 9 .

He was accepted into the Reichswehr and became battalion commander in the 15th Infantry Regiment in October 1935.

Promoted to Colonel in early October 1938 , he served in the staff of Infantry Regiment 15 from May 1939. From early September 1939 to mid-1941 he was the first commander of the 187 Infantry Regiment of the 87th Infantry Division . This was followed in the same position by the 522 Infantry Regiment in the 297th Infantry Division with which he fought in Russia .

From July 15, 1942, when he was promoted to major general , until March 15, 1943, Friedrich-Wilhelm Deutsch succeeded Josef Reichert as commander of the 711th Infantry Division and was then transferred to the Führer Reserve . From the beginning of April 1943 until his car accident he was commander of the 297th Infantry Division . On February 17, 1944, he was seriously injured in a car accident and died of the injuries on March 2, 1944 in an Italian hospital. On August 1, 1943, he was promoted to lieutenant general.
