Friedrich Back (teacher)

Friedrich Back (born February 16, 1833 in Kirchberg , Hunsrück , † October 3, 1901 in Birkenfeld an der Nahe ) was a German school director and local researcher.

Life

Friedrich Back was born in the rectory in Kirchberg as the son of Friedrich Back and his wife Louisa, née Röchling. From 1841 he grew up in Kastellaun , where his father had been elected superintendent of the Simmern parish from 1843 . He attended high school in Trarbach and the Royal Prussian grammar school and secondary school in Kreuznach . From autumn 1852 he studied philology and theology at the University of Bonn and the University of Berlin . After the first theological exam he was appointed acting rector of the secondary school for girls in Wetzlar from 1855 . In the spring of 1859 he took the pro schola exam there , which made his permanent position possible. From 1862 he was rector at the higher city school in Sobernheim . From 1867 until his death in 1901 he was director of the Grand Ducal Gymnasium in Birkenfeld.

Back was also involved in local research. From 1884 he was chairman of the Society for Archeology in Birkenfeld.

Friedrich Back died in Birkenfeld at the age of 67. He was married to Henriette Schneider since 1859. The later art historian Friedrich Back emerged from the marriage .

The city of Birkenfeld named a street after him.
