Friedrich Dammers

Friedrich Dammers (born September 6, 1818 in Nienburg / Weser , † May 15, 1887 in Dresden ) was a German major general in the Kingdom of Hanover .

Life

From 1840 to 1844 Dammer attended the General Staff Academy in Hanover . He took part in the Schleswig-Holstein War in 1848 and was awarded the Guelph Order . As a battalion commander, he also commanded Hanoverian troops in the German-Danish War of 1864 and was commander of the federal troops in Rendsburg . In 1866 Georg V von Hanover appointed him to the second chamber of the Estates Assembly and appointed him during the German War on May 17, 1866 as the successor of Wilhelm von Tschirschnitz as his adjudant general and personal military advisor. After the capitulation of Hanover in the same year and the annexation by Prussia , Dammers left the service, but remained an important confidante of George V until his death.
