Friedrich Deutsch (theologian)

Friedrich Deutsch (born April 2, 1657 in Königsberg (Prussia) ; † April 21, 1709 there ) was a German Protestant theologian.

Life

The son of the court administrator of the old town of Königsberg, Christian Deutsch, and his wife Elisabeth, daughter of the court relative in the old town of Königsberg, had received his school education in Königsberg. Presumably he received his first training at the cathedral school in Königsberg from his uncle Johann Deutsch. He continued his studies, which he had started at the University of Königsberg , at the University of Jena , where on April 29, 1679 he obtained the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy. He then completed a scholars' journey ( cavalier journey ) that took him to Holland, France and England.

In 1684 he returned to Koenigsberg, where he received an extraordinary professorship in 1686 and received his doctorate in theology on February 21st in the same year . In 1688 he became second full professor, pastor at the Löbenicht Church and assessor at the Samland consistory . In 1703 he became the first professor of the theological faculty and at the same time royal court preacher of Friedrich Wilhelm I of Prussia . In his capacity as a university teacher, he participated in the organizational tasks of the Königsberg University and was rector of the Alma Mater in the winter semesters 1692/93, 1696/97 and 1700/01 . In 1704/05 and 1708/09 he was Vice Rector.

Deutsch was married twice.

On January 8, 1686 he married Anna Barbara († May 11, 1695), daughter of the court relative Kaspar Schimmelpfennig.

His second marriage was on October 9, 1696 with Katharina (November 28, 1676 - January 22, 1700), daughter of the court relative in Löbenicht Heinrich Höpner.
