Friedrich Engelbach

Friedrich Ernst Engelbach (born November 19, 1800 in Storndorf ; † December 17, 1874 in Gießen ) was a Hessian lawyer and member of parliament.

Engelbach was the son of the court attorney and lawyer Justus Engelbach and his wife Anna Maria née Werner (1775-1818). Engelbach, who was a Protestant denomination, married Marie Elisabethe Philippine Henriette née Kempf (f) (1799–1877), the daughter of postmaster Johann Christoph Kempf (1770–1852) and his wife Marie Elisabethe née Busch (1770–1852) in Gießen (Germany) on June 26, 1839 ( 1781-1841).

Engelbach studied law at the University of Giessen from 1817 . During his studies he belonged to the Corps Hassia Gießen and in 1818 he became a member of the old Gießen fraternity Germania . He completed his studies in 1823 with a doctorate to become Dr. jur. from. He became court court advisor and from 1826 court attorney at the court in Giessen . In 1848 he was election commissioner for the Frankfurt National Assembly .

From 1851 to 1856 he was an elected member for constituency 4 Upper Hesse (Battenberg, Biedenkopf, Gießen, Gladenbach, Grünberg, Lich) of the first chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . Between 1856 and 1874 he was a member of the first chamber appointed by the Grand Duke for life.
