Friedrich III. von Zollern († July 29/30, 1436 in Gottlieben ) was Bishop of Constance from 1434 to 1436 .

Friedrich von Zollern was one of six children from the marriage of Count Friedrich XI. von Hohenzollern-Hechingen and Adelheid, daughter of Count Hugo von Fürstenberg in Zindelstein. Well-known brothers were Friedrich XII. and Eitel Friedrich I.

Life

Friedrich von Zollern was the imperial councilor of Sigismund , the emperor's envoy to the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order Paul von Rusdorf in 1433 and canon in Strasbourg. Friedrich was able to convince the Constance canons with a "considerable personal thing", who on November 15, 1433 agreed to a transfer of the heavily indebted diocese. On September 6, 1434, the approval was given by Pope Eugene IV.

He succeeded Otto III on September 6, 1434 . von Hachberg in the episcopate. In accordance with the order issued by the Council of Basel in 1433 , he invited the clergy to a diocesan synod in Constance on May 30, 1435. It is not known whether Zollern held the announced second synod in May 1436 or not. Just three months later on 29./30. In July 1436 he died at Gottlieben Castle. Friedrich von Zollern was buried in the Constance Minster .

On August 4, 1436, Heinrich von Hewen succeeded him as Bishop of Constance.
