Curt Heinrich Conrad Friedrich Jansen (born May 5, 1798 in Nienburg / Weser ; † December 12, 1861 in Göttingen ) was a royal Hanoverian statistician .

Life

Friedrich Jansen was born in 1798 as the son of the tax entrepreneur Friedrich Jansen and his wife Charlotte, b. Scheele, born and raised in the Protestant faith.

In 1823 he completed his work on a statistical handbook for the Kingdom of Hanover, which was published in 1824. From 1824 to 1830 he worked as a defeat assistant at the tax office of Celle and then from 1831 to 1846 at the district of Celle in the administrative area of special tax collectors . The court and state handbook for the Kingdom of Hanover for the year 1837 shows Jansen as the collector of direct taxes . In 1847 Jansen became a district collector's assistant in Celle, only to be transferred to Göttingen in 1860 as a district collector (tax officer). He did not live to see his retirement . Friedrich Jansen succumbed to pneumonia on December 12, 1861 and was buried in Göttingen on December 16.

Friedrich Jansen was married to Johanna Amalia Catharina Möller. The children of the marriage were Mathilde Friederike Elisabeth (* October 10, 1832), Friedrich Wilhelm Albert (* January 8, 1835), Sophie Caroline Marie (* January 30, 1839), Hermann Wilhelm Curt (* May 30, 1840), Friederike (* September 25, 1841), Anna Juliane (* October 7, 1842) and Conrad Fürchtegott Friedebald (* March 21, 1848 - December 2, 1940), all born in Celle. Another boy was born on January 7, 1837, but died on the same day. The family lived in their own house in the Hehlenvorstadt .

Jansen published his publications under the acronym CHCF Jansen, in the foreword to his 741-page work from 1824 he signed his nickname, Friedrich Jansen.

The Leipziger Literaturzeitung was critical of the book presentation:

" Statistics (...) The author of the present repertory was probably not informed that a similar work on Hanover (sic!) Was being prepared with the assistance of the minister, and he only found out after his own part had already been partially printed ; otherwise he would certainly not have appeared with it. The diligence he has put into it is praiseworthy and meritorious, and if we had not received the rival work at the same time, we would always regard it as an appreciable contribution to the statistics of Hanover. "
