Friedrich Miess
Rudolph Friedrich Miess (born August 21, 1854 in Kronstadt , Transylvania , † May 29, 1935 there ) was a portrait and landscape painter of the Transylvanian Saxons .
Born into a middle-class family, Miess first worked in his parents' business before he began to study art when he was over thirty years old. After two years of art studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna , Miess studied at the Academy in Munich , where he finished his studies in 1889. After several study trips to Italy , Miess opened a studio in his hometown and worked as a freelance artist.
