Friedrich Nikolaus von Pauffler

Friedrich Nikolaus von Pauffler (born November 30, 1778 in Mitau , † January 4, 1856 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Baltic German theologian .

Life

He studied theology in Königsberg and Jena, was pastoral adjunct to Dalbingen in 1803 and was pastor to Kursiten and Altschwarden from 1807 to 1827 .

In 1824 he set up the elementary schools in Kursiten and Schwarden, whose teachers he had trained himself. He was a co-founder of the Latvian Literary Society and, in 1821, co-editor of the Courland Society for Literature and Art. From 1827 to 1838 he was pastor in Windau, 1828 provost of the Goldingen diocese and assessor of the Courland Consistory, 1831 consistory council, 1833 spiritual assessor of the Goldingen chief churchman's office. 1835 Senior Consistorial Council and spiritual member of the Evangelical Lutheran General Consistory in St. Petersburg.

From 1838 to 1840 he was General Superintendent of the St. Petersburg Consistorial District and from 1840 to 1856 Vice President of the Evangelical Lutheran General Consistory, and in 1851 Bishop .

He wrote essays in the Latweeschu Awises .
