Friedrich Reinhold Postelt

Friedrich Reinhold Postelt (born February 10, 1853 in Hohenstein ; † October 22, 1917 in Hamburg ) was managing director of the consumer, building and savings association "Produktion" eGmbH, supervisory board of the large-scale purchasing company Deutscher Consumvereine mbH (GEG) , and social democrat.

Life

Postelt attended elementary school from 1859 to 1867, until he was 14 years old. He then worked as a cigar maker in the factory for 22 years. In 1889 Postelt became the cashier of the newly established consumer association Vorwärts für Dresden und Umgebung e. G. m. H. elected. From 1890 to July 1897 he was managing director there.

From 1897 to 1898 he was the founder and owner of a woven goods factory in Seifhennersdorf . Postelt was a Protestant denomination and has left the church. Through the mediation of Adolph von Elm , Postelt became managing director of the newly established consumer, building and savings association "Produktion" eGmbH in Hamburg in 1899 . His annual salary was initially 3,000 marks plus a bonus of 600 marks. In May 1901 he was elected to the supervisory board of the Großeinkaufs-Gesellschaft Deutscher Consumvereine mbH (GEG) .

In 1909 he was elected chairman of the northwest German revision association, which he had previously belonged to. As chairman of the association, he was a member of the committee of the Central Association of German Consumer Associations .

Postelt took part in the party congresses in Halle (Saale) in 1890 , in Breslau in 1895 and in Stuttgart in 1898 . He ran for the Reichstag election for the constituency of Saxony 2 ( Löbau ) in 1890, 1893 and 1898. He did not obtain a mandate. From 1891 to 1897 he was a member of the State Parliament of Saxony in legislative periods 11, 12 and 13.

In 1908 he suffered a minor stroke and his health deteriorated over time. In June 1913 he therefore resigned from the supervisory boards of the GEG and the Central Association of German Consumers , and in September also resigned from his position as managing director of production. On October 22, 1917, he died of a second stroke.

Honors

In Hamburg-Horn , the Posteltsweg was named after him on July 16, 1929 . After the seizure of power , the street was renamed Heinrich-Heißinger-Straße in March 1934 until October 1945 after an SA man . Since October 25, 1945 it has been called Posteltsweg again .
