Friedrich Roithmayr (born October 15, 1946 in Linz ) is an Austrian business IT specialist and university professor . From 2007 to 2015 he was Vice Rector for International Affairs at the Johannes Kepler University Linz .

education

Roithmayr was born in Linz and attended the Bundesrealschule Linz , where he also passed the Matura in 1966. From 1966 he studied business administration with Peter Mertens and Ernest Kulhavy at the newly founded University of Social and Economic Sciences (today University of Linz) and completed his undergraduate studies in 1971 with the academic degree Magister of Social and Economic Sciences at the SOWI Faculty. In 1977 he received his doctorate in social and economic sciences at the SOWI faculty of the Johannes Kepler University Linz, in 1987 he qualified as professor for business informatics.

University career

After Roithmayr had worked as an operator, organizer and application programmer between 1969 and 1971, he was an assistant at the Institute for Statistics and Computer Science at the University of Linz from 1971 to 1973. He then worked between 1973 and 1987 as a university lecturer for business administration, operations research and computer science at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz and between 1973 and 1987 also headed the IT center of the University of Linz. From 1973 to 1993 he was a lecturer at the University for Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz and from 1987 to 1988 he taught as a professor (C4) for business informatics at the University of Bamberg for system development and database applications. After he had turned down the offer of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences at the University of Bamberg (Chair for System Development and Database Applications, C4) in 1988, he became a full professor for Information Systems and Business Administration at the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences at the University of Innsbruck (Institute for Information Systems) in 1988. . Between 1987 and 1998 he also carried out teaching and research activities at the universities of Bamberg, Halle - Wittenberg, Duisburg and Innsbruck. Roithmayr has been a sworn expert under the Court of Auditors Act since 1993, was scientific director of the university course in applied business administration, specializing in information management at Schloss Hofen, from 1993 to 1996, and has been a visiting professor at the University of Leipzig since 1994. From 1995 to 1999 he was dean of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences at the University of Innsbruck and from 1999 to 2001 he was the scientific director of the university course “Master of Advanced Studies Business Management”. He was a member of the Austrian University Council from 2000 to 2005, has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Tyrolean Future Foundation since 2001 and, since 2002, Scientific Director of the Master of Business Administration (MBA Business Informatics) course at the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences at the University of Innsbruck. Roithmayr was appointed full professor for business informatics and business administration in October 2004 and is head of the institute for business informatics - information engineering at the Johannes Kepler University Linz.

Roithmayr has been Vice Rector for International Affairs since 2007. His area of ​​responsibility includes marketing as well as building and maintaining external university relations. This includes presentation and representation, stake holder support, partnerships with companies and non-profit organizations, maintaining contacts with graduates, promoting the international mobility of teachers and students, partnerships and exchange programs, fundraising and sponsoring, information management and quality management in the area of ​​partnerships.

Private

Roithmayr has been married since 1975 and had a daughter in 1977.
