Friedrich Scholz (linguist)

Friedrich Scholz (born March 1, 1928 in Hamburg ; † May 27, 2016 in Münster ) was a German linguist .

Life

After graduating as Dr. phil. on July 10, 1953 and his habilitation in 1958 in Hamburg, he taught from 1959 to 1963 private lecturer in comparative linguistics at the University of Hamburg . He became associate professor in Mainz in 1962 and full professor in 1963. In 1966 he moved to Münster. The work The Literatures of the Baltic States - Their Origin and Development from 1990 is considered the "magnum opus" of his publications .
