from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Friedrich Schultze (also: Schulze, Scultetus ; * December 25, 1598 in Wiesenburg / Mark ; † April 27, 1677 in Torgau ) was a German Lutheran theologian.

Life

The son of the pastor from Treuenbrietzen in Wiesenburg and later pastor in Seehausen near Seyda Marcus Scultetus and his wife Dorothea, daughter of the mayor of Treuenbrietzen Martin Schumann, should originally learn the tailoring trade in Wittenberg after his school days. Because his student brother Matthias died, the father decided to enable him to complete a degree. In April 1612 he was able to enroll in the register of the University of Wittenberg free of charge . However, since his father ran out of money, he became a Famulus with three hamburgers. These were Johannes Müller, Hieronymus Praetorius and Werner Rolfinck . In 1618 he became tutor for the children of Friedrich Balduin , whom he accompanied as secretary at the theological convent in Jena in 1621 and who ensured that he could acquire the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy on April 9, 1622 free of charge . In 1623 he became a substitute for pastor Wolfgang Kämpff in Axien , whom he replaced as pastor on October 16 of the same year. On September 18, 1632 he went to Torgau as a deacon and rose there after the death of Christian Meissner on March 20, 1657 to the position of archdeacon, in which function he repeatedly represented the local superintendent. Schultze had given over 800 sermons on the textbook Syrach and 5,000 sermons on other biblical texts.
