Friedrich Wilhelm Ghillany

Friedrich Wilhelm Ghillany (born April 18, 1807 in Erlangen , † June 26, 1876 in his country house Schellek on Lake Starnberg) was a German Protestant theologian, historian and publicist .

Life

During his studies in Erlangen, Ghillany became a member of the Bubenreuther fraternity in the winter semester of 1825/26 . After completing his studies, he was briefly vicar at the Egidienkirche in Nuremberg , but in 1835 switched to a professorship at the Nuremberg technical district school due to conflicts with the church authorities. In 1841 he also became a city librarian. In 1855 he gave up his offices and lived as a private scholar and author in Munich. In 1842 he published the work "The Human Sacrifice of the Ancient Hebrews". In this he wrote that a pre-Mosaic sacrificial cult was secretly continued in Judaism.
