Friedrich Wilhelm Maier-Bode

Friedrich Wilhelm Maier-Bode (born May 30, 1900 in Augsburg , † December 12, 1953 in Bonn ) was a German phytopathologist and author of agricultural books.

Life

Friedrich Wilhelm Maier-Bode, son of the agriculture teacher Friederich Maier-Bode , studied agriculture in Munich - Weihenstephan from 1918 to 1921 and then worked as an agriculture teacher, including three years at the agricultural school in Jena - Zwatzen . From 1926 to 1945 he headed the crop protection advisory and sales office of Bayer AG in Berlin. In 1947 he became Ministerialrat or Ministerialdirigent in the Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forests of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in Düsseldorf and in 1950 Ministerial Director in the Federal Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forests in Bonn. Due to his extensive knowledge in the fields of agriculture, economics and agricultural policy, he was given a teaching position for agricultural organization at the University of Bonn in 1950 . In 1952 he was awarded the title of honorary professor.

Maier-Bode is the author and editor of numerous specialist agricultural books. From the point of view of crop science, his study The three stages of fertilization , published in 1948, should be emphasized, a historical-critical account of the problem of soil fertility . From his phytopathological books, the pocket book of the plant doctor founded by him in 1950 developed into a standard work in the field of plant protection . Up to 2006, 54 editions were published annually.
