Friedrich Wilhelm Vitzthum von Eckstedt (born August 4, 1578 in Weimar , † May 26, 1637 in Leipzig ) was a German cavalry general in the Thirty Years' War , councilor in Sachsen-Altenburg and captain of the offices of Saalfeld , Zella and Graefenthal .
He came from the noble family Vitzthum von Eckstedt and was the second eldest son of Dietrich Vitzthum von Eckstedt on Eckstedt and Markvippach and Eva nee. from Mila . The oldest and first-born son was his twin brother Hans Wilhelm Vitzthum von Eckstedt.
His son was the Rittmeister Georg Dietrich Vitzhtum von Eckstedt.
He is easily confused with the colonel of the same name, who was, however, a son of Georg Vitzthum von Eckstedt on Kannawurf .
