Friedrich Wilhelm von Derschau

Friedrich Wilhelm von Derschau (* 1723 in Berlin ; † October 24, 1779 in Schönebeck) was a Prussian statesman under Frederick the Great .

Friedrich Wilhelm came from the Prussian- Kurland noble family Derschau . He was first the Prussian envoy to the Swiss Confederation and then the Klevisch-Märkisch Chamber President , before moving from King to Real Secret Budget and War Council on April 1, 1769 , Vice-President and Chief Minister of General Finance, War and Domain Directorate , Landdrost of the Principality Moers , head of the Kurmark department , was appointed postmaster general for the entire Prussian postal system and head of all salt affairs . Derschau was involved in the Prussian colonization policy and in 1774 the Derschau colony was named after him.

He was married to a daughter of Privy Councilor Schuirmann from Cleve. The couple had a daughter before his wife died in Meurs in 1768. At that time he was in Neuchatel to calm the unrest there.
