Friedrich Wulf (born June 18, 1908 ; † May 2, 1990 ) was a German Catholic priest, Jesuit (since 1927), spiritual writer, retreat leader, council theologian ( Vatican II , 1962-65) and member of the Würzburg Synod (1972-75 ).

He is one of the founders of modern Christian spirituality , especially the theology of religious life and the lay apostolate, in German-speaking countries.

From 1947 to 1979 Wulf was editor-in-chief of the magazine Geist und Leben (GuL), formerly "Zeitschrift für Aszese und Mystik" (ZAM). Wulf's theological-anthropological conception of contemporary spirituality is influenced by August Brunner SJ, Erich Przywara SJ and Karl Rahner SJ. Pointing the way is his commentary on "Perfectae Caritatis", the Council decree "On the contemporary renewal of religious life" (1966). Wulf's spiritual approach was continued by Josef Sudbrack SJ, especially in the dialogue with Eastern meditation methods and humanistic psychology. He had a friendship that lasted over twenty years with the nun Corona Bamberg .
