Corona Bamberg

Corona Bamberg OSB (born April 18, 1921 in Fürth as Irmgard Bamberg ; † May 3, 2018 in Herstelle ) was a German Benedictine nun from the Abbey of the Holy Cross in Herstelle and author.

Life

From 1939 to 1945 Irmgard Bamberg studied classical philology , German and philosophy. In 1945 she was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . On July 8, 1945 of the same year, she joined the Herstelle / Weser Abbey and took the religious name Corona . She made her profession on February 24, 1947 . Bamberg dealt with the mystery theology of Odo Casel (1886–1948), who was the monastery's spiritual director until his death. For Corona Bamberg, however, the chief editor of the magazine “ Geist und Leben ”, Friedrich Wulf SJ (1908–1990), whom she herself described as a “spiritual advisor and friend”, should be decisive .

From 1972 to 1974 she was a member of the Würzburg Synod . From 1981 she was a member of the Bavarian Benedictine Academy and from 1991 to 1998 she was an advisor to the German Bishops' Conference .
