Friedrich von Bothmer (Minister)
Karl Friedrich Ernst August (Baron) von Bothmer (born March 10, 1796 in Stolzenau , † December 21, 1861 in Hanover ) was a German judge, diplomat and minister of the Kingdom of Hanover.
Life
Friedrich von Bothmer came from the so-called Bennemühler main line of the Lower Saxon noble family von Bothmer and was a son of the bailiff of Stolzenau Ferdinand von Bothmer . Karl von Bothmer was his younger brother.
He studied law at the Universities of Heidelberg and Göttingen . In Göttingen he became a member of the Corps Bremensia in 1813 . He entered the judicial service of the Kingdom of Hanover . In 1831 he led the investigations against the participants in the Göttingen uprising , which had been led by the private lecturer Johann Ernst Arminius von Rauschenplatt , as a councilor of the Celle law firm . In 1841 he became a senior appellate judge at the criminal senate of the higher appeal court in Celle and later director of the law firm in Celle. his legal publications fall during this period. After the German Revolution of 1848/1849 he was also politically active in the Kingdom of Hanover. He was a member of the First Chamber of the State Assembly of the Kingdom of Hanover for the Protestant clergy. He was envoy of the Kingdom of Hanover to the German Confederation and, after a brief return to the profession of judge (1853), became Minister of Education in the Hanoverian Ministry of Wilhelm von Borries in 1855 . He received the papal Order of Pius in 1857 for appropriately furnishing the Diocese of Osnabrück . Bothmer was the owner of the manor on Bennemühlen and Bothmer . He died in office as minister of education.
He was with Wilhelmine, geb. von Schleppegrell (1799–1869) married. The couple had a son, Ferdinand (1829–).
