Friedrich von Perneck ( also Pernegg ; † September 12, 1414 ) was Friedrich II. Bishop of Seckau .

Life

Friedrich von Perneck came from a Styrian knight family from Pernegg near Bruck an der Mur, a relative of Rudolf von Perneck was the Styrian governor, his brother Eckhart was Bishop of Chiemsee . From 1385 to 1399 Friedrich was canon of Salzburg , 1392 to 1392 cathedral dean . During this time he led a dispute with the cathedral provost and later Archbishop Gregor Schenk von Osterwitz about the cathedral provost office. The matter was decided in favor of the cathedral provost, after his election as archbishop Friedrich von Perneck was assured the next free diocese in a settlement from the year 1396. He then began to study law in Prague and Vienna .

While the ailing Bishop of Seckau, Johann von Neuberg , was still alive , Perneck was appointed his coadjutor and successor on May 23, 1399 , followed by papal confirmation on September 16, 1399.

Little is known about Perneck's reign. In 1399 he recognized Duke Wilhelm's jurisdiction over the diocese of Seckau by agreeing to the court privilege .

Bishop Friedrich II died on September 12, 1414, he was probably buried in the basilica of the Seckau Abbey. The tombstone reused by Bishop Ulrich von Albeck is preserved in the Gnadenkapelle.
