Friedrichweiler has been part of the municipality of Wadgassen in the Saarlouis district ( Saarland ) with 983 inhabitants since 1974 .

history

The place was founded in 1725 by Count Friedrich Ludwig von Nassau-Saarbrücken and named after him. The first inhabitants immigrated from the Metz area in Lorraine or worked at the Unterbrunner Hof (located on the Bist in the area of today's Differter fish pond). In 1766 Friedrichweiler was ceded to France and assigned to the canton of Saarlouis in the course of the French Revolution in 1791 . In 1809 the communities Differten and Friedrichweiler were merged. At that time, around 108 people lived in Friedrichweiler. With the Second Paris Peace Treaty of 1815, Friedrichweiler came under Prussian rule.

On January 1, 1974, the previously independent community of Differten, to which Friedrichweiler belonged, was incorporated into the community of Wadgassen.
