Fritz Bachmann (born December 26, 1887 in Plauen , † May 6, 1947 in Leipzig ) was a German botanist .

Life

Fritz Bachmann was born on December 26, 1887 in Plauen. He studied at the University of Munich , joined the University of Leipzig and completed his studies there in 1913 with the promotion of Doctor of Philosophy in Biology from. He completed his habilitation in botany at the University of Bonn in 1922 and was a private lecturer there that same year . Also in that year he switched to the philosophy faculty in Leipzig, more precisely to the mathematics and natural sciences department. In 1928 he was promoted to unscheduled associate professor there . He held this position until 1945. He had been a member of the SA since 1934 and of the NSDAP since 1937 .

Bachmann, of the Reformed faith, also acted as the editor of several magazines. He died in Leipzig in 1947.
