Act

Fritz Emonts is one of the most important German piano teachers of the 20th century. In 1958/1962 he published the two-volume piano school "First Piano Game". Starting with the central c 'and starting with the treble and bass clef at the same time, it offers a concentrated course based on the five-tone space (with changing registers and basic tones). It mainly contains classical literature examples, German folk songs, finger exercises, articulation and phrasing tasks as well as consistent training in the independence of both hands and polyphonic piano playing.

Between 1992 and 1994, the three-volume European Piano School appeared as a revision and update of the first school. It takes greater account of creative aspects, listening training, exercises in improvisation and song accompaniment as well as international folklore and songs from all over the world. A high proportion of four-hand pieces are aimed at group lessons. The trilingual method (German, English, French) appeared on the occasion of the merger of the European states to form the “European Community” and is widespread there. Twelve booklets with piano literature from 17th to 20th centuries Century (two and four hands) and three CDs round off the course.

Fritz Emonts was co-author of the piano curriculum of the Association of German Music Schools (VdM) in 1974 and the revised new edition from 1990. He also contributed to the “Chamber music with piano” curriculum for the Jugend musiziert competition . In addition, numerous articles by him on the subject of piano lessons have appeared in specialist journals.

On January 18, 1995, on the occasion of his 75th birthday, he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.
