August Friedrich of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf
August Friedrich (born May 6, 1646 in Schleswig , † October 2, 1705 in Eutin ) was Prince of Holstein-Gottorf and Prince-Bishop of the Principality of Lübeck .
Life
The seventh son of Duke Friedrich III. became coadjutor of his brother Christian Albrecht in 1656 with the right of succession and from 1666 until his death in 1705 Prince-Bishop of Lübeck .
From 1684 to 1689 August Friedrich's Prince Bishopric and the Schleswig-Holstein possessions of his brother Christian Albrecht were occupied by Danish troops.
August Friedrich married Christine (* 1658, † 1698), daughter of Duke August von Sachsen-Weißenfels in Halle in 1676 .
The baroque tomb of the two, designed by the Flemish sculptor Thomas Quellinus , is located in the Marientidenkapelle in Lübeck Cathedral .
He was a member of the Fruitful Society with the company name "The Chosen One".
