Fritz Fajen

Fritz Fajen (born November 7, 1934 in Rotenburg in Hanover ) is a German classical philologist . He is the authoritative editor of the Halieutika of the Greek teacher Oppian .

From 1957 Fajen studied Classical Philology and Indo-European Studies at the Universities of Göttingen and Zurich . In Göttingen he received his doctorate in 1965 under Ernst Heitsch and Günter Neumann ; He then attended the Scuola vaticana di paleografia e diplomatica in Rome and graduated as a Palaeographus vaticanus. Since 1967 at the University of Regensburg (Heitsch chair), first as an assistant, later as academic director, he taught Greek and Latin (and Italian) until 1999.
