Fritz Godow

Fritz Godow (born July 25, 1851 in Kortenhagen in the Greifenhagen district , † August 6, 1932 in Stettin ) was a German writer and teacher. He wrote in the West Pomeranian dialect of the Low German language .

Life

Fritz Godow was born on July 25, 1851 in Kortenhagen in Pomerania, the son of a farmer. In order to become a teacher, he first attended the preparatory institute in Lebbin and then from 1869 to 1871 the teachers' college in Cammin . He then worked first as a teacher at the cathedral school in Cammin, then as a secondary school teacher in Stettin.

Fritz Godow wrote two collections of short stories in the West Pomeranian dialect of the Low German language , which appeared in 1900 and 1924. None of the collections were later reissued. In the 1969 anthology Pommersche Literatur , Godow is represented with four poems.
