Christian E. Hansen's two sons, Poul Fritz Hansen and Søren Christian Hansen, worked in the company from 1928. Poul Fritz Hansen in particular began to work together with the architecture professor Kaare Klint and the architect Arne Jacobsen in 1934 . Klint had Hansen build shelving systems and wall units. The collaboration with Jacobsen resulted in a chair that he used for the restaurant of the Bellevue Theater in Klampenborg. From then on, Jacobsen developed all of his seating furniture, such as the Ameise , Grand Prix and Series 7 chairs , as well as the Egg and Swan armchairs - both works for his total work of art, SAS Royal Hotel  - with the help of Hansen. Jacobsen gave the company a license to produce his furniture designs. Hans J. Wegner and Børge Mogensen also worked with Fritz Hansen in the 1940s. Wegner developed the Chinastuhl in 1944 and Morgensen in 1945 the Spokeback sofa .

In the 1960s, production was relocated to Allerød , north of Copenhagen . The company was bought by Skandinavisk Holding in 1979. A collaboration with McDonald’s ended in 2007 when McDonald’s used not only original Fritz Hansen furniture but also unlicensed copies in its restaurants in England.
