Fritz plaintiff
Fritz Kläger (born January 14, 1914 in Dornstetten , † March 22, 2007 in Kirchzarten ) was a German motorcycle racing driver and designer.
Career
Fritz Kläger came from Dornstetten in the Black Forest . In 1934 his career began with a victory in the ice race on the Titisee . After various class victories, he received the international racing license that same year . But then his career was interrupted for twelve years by military service and World War II.
After the war, Fritz Kläger was one of the most important racing drivers and racing machine designers in Germany. He built fast engines and transmissions, not just for himself but for his friends and competitors too. From 1948 he was also at the start again.
He was among the six best drivers at German championships 14 times . In the mid-1950s, Kläger was a works driver at Horex and also competed in the motorcycle world championship for the manufacturer from Bad Homburg vor der Höhe , but without being able to score world championship points. In 1954 he won the title of “Best German Private Driver” on Horex in the 350cc class and in 1957 he was second in the German championship on his Horex behind Helmut Hallmeier ( NSU ) and ahead of Karl Hoppe and Hans Hötzer, both AJS .
Kläger was a specialist in winding racetracks. In 1952 he won the Feldberg race in the Taunus with over 60 corners per lap and he won the Schauinsland mountain race in the Black Forest four times . There are also three second and third places on this mountain route.
From 1966 to 1970 he built a small series of racing machines, the FKS (Fritz Kläger Special) with 250, 350 and 500 cm³ cubic capacity and was thus also successful in races. He won on a 250cc FKS on the Schauinsland in 1969.
Fritz Kläger ended his 35-year racing career in 1969. He died on March 22, 2007 at the age of 93 in Kirchzarten.
