Fritz Müller (wrestler)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fritz Müller (* 1917 ; † 1999 ) was a German wrestler in the heavyweight class from Bamberg .

Career

Fritz Müller began his career at KSV Bamberg at the age of 8 and became German youth champion in 1935. He quickly made a name for himself among senior citizens, for whom Kurt Hornfischer , Nuremberg, set the tone at the time . As early as 1938 - in the absence of Hornfischer - he won his first German championship title in the Greco-Roman style before Willi Liebern , Dortmund and Erich Siebert , Mainz. This title was followed by three more in 1940, 1943 and 1948 and a runner-up in 1949. He won the title in free style in 1949 before Jakob Feilhuber , Neuaubing.

In 1947 and 1949 he won three victories over Kurt Hornfischer in team fights. In November 1948 he celebrated his 100 victories against a German opponent in a row, a winning streak that was only ended by Willi Liebern in 1949. Since the more experienced Karl Ehret, Ludwigshafen and Kurt Hornfischer were preferred to him at the European Championships in 1938 and 1939, three international matches in 1940 (2 victories over Donati, Italy, 1 defeat against Bobis, Hungary) remained his only international appearances.

In 1950 he joined the professional wrestlers, where he also wrestled very successfully, and was then a popular innkeeper in the center of Bamberg for many years.
