Martinz, along with the sculptor and graphic artist Alfred Hrdlicka , the painter Georg Eisler and the sculptor Rudolf Schwaiger, belonged to the post-war generation of Austrian artists who combined critical realism and an unadorned representation of the situation. Initially connected to Max Beckmann's panoptic world theater , he quickly found his own painterly expression, in which in his paintings, etchings and lithographs, above all, brilliant and, for the Viennese conditions of the time, depicted female nudes.
