Fritz Ohlig
Fritz Ohlig (born January 20, 1902 in Striegau , † June 27, 1971 in Oldenburg ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a member of the German Bundestag .
Life
By profession a stonemason , Ohlig joined the Socialist Workers' Youth (SAJ) in 1919 , later also the SPD. In 1924 he became youth secretary of the State Association of Silesia of the SAJ, two years later youth and education secretary in the SPD district of Central Silesia. In 1930 he became managing director of the Arbeiterjugend-Verlag and association cashier of SAJ Germany.
Ohlig was imprisoned in the Brandenburg concentration camp from 1933 to 1934 and, after its closure, in the Oranienburg concentration camp . In mid-1934 he was fired and for the next few years worked as a stonemason in his learned profession, from 1936 he worked as an accountant, but was dismissed for political reasons. In the Second World War he was used as a soldier from 1941 to 1945 and was a French prisoner of war until 1947. After his release, he initially worked as a stonemason again, but from November 1947 he became district secretary in the SPD district of Weser-Ems.
He moved into the German Bundestag in 1949 as a directly elected member of the constituency Delmenhorst - Wesermarsch and in 1953 via the Lower Saxony state list . During his time in the Bundestag, Ohlig was a full member of the committee for equalization of burdens from June 1951 and of the budget committee from October 1952. Only in the first electoral term was he a member of the committee for Berlin and the committee for internal reorganization. After leaving parliament in 1957, he became state secretary of the SPD in Baden-Württemberg and remained so until 1964. For the next two years he was a full-time employee of the SPD party executive, after which he remained a member of the SPD's control commission until his death in 1971.
