Fritz Pontini
Fritz Pontini (also Friedrich, born June 6, 1874 in Vienna ; † June 22, 1912 there ) was an Austrian etcher and painter .
The Pontinis were a wealthy family of Franzensbad hoteliers. Friedrich Pontini's father was a writer .
Pontini first attended the painting school of Adalbert (Vojtěch) Brechler. From 1892 to 1901 he studied painting with Franz Rumpler and graphics with Arthur William Unger at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . In the academic year 1898/99 he received the Gundel Prize , in 1899/1900 the Special School Prize and in 1901/02 the golden Füger Medal .
Pontini married in Vienna and remained active there. He mainly dealt with etchings, also in color, with genre motifs. He often visited Franzensbad . From 1908 he was a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus .
After his wife committed suicide, Pontini shot himself in his studio.
