Fritz Rudigier

Fritz Rudigier (born June 25, 1941 in St. Gallenkirch ; † October 29, 2015 there ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 1984 to 1989 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament and from 1985 to 2005 mayor of St. Gallenkirch.

education and profession

After attending primary school in St. Gallenkirch, Fritz Rudigier worked in his parents' farm from 1955 to 1975. Between 1957 and 1959 he graduated from the commercial school in Feldkirch and joined the Vorarlberg regional health insurance fund in Schruns in 1959 . He was initially employed as an employee and rose to head the Schruns regional health insurance office. He held the position of head of the branch office until his retirement in 2001.

Politics and functions

Rudigier joined the Socialist Party of Austria in 1961 and in 1965 took over the office of local party chairman of the Socialist Party of St. Gallenkirch. From 1970 he was a member of the local council and council of St. Gallenkirch, and between May 1985 and May 2005 he was mayor of his home community. On February 23, 1983, he succeeded Helmut Wolf and a member of the Bludenz constituency in the Vorarlberg state parliament, to which he belonged for over one and a half legal periods until October 23, 1989. There he was a member of the Agricultural Committee and a member of the Social Policy Committee. Within the socialist state parliament club, he assumed the function of area spokesman for agriculture and forestry. Within the party, he also worked as a member of the district committee of the SPÖ district organization Bludenz, at the state level he was also a member of the state party leadership and from 1983 to 1992 a member of the state party committee of the SPÖ Vorarlberg.

Rudigier was also a member of the trade union for private employees and a member of the supervisory board of Vorarlberger Illwerke. In his home community he was involved in brass music and as a member of the traditional costume group.

Private

Fritz Rudigier was born as the son of the farmer Anton Rudigier. He married Ilse Tschofen in 1967 and had a son in 1968 and a daughter in 1974.
