Fritz Sidler

Fritz Sidler (born January 16, 1931 - April 24, 2006 ) was a Swiss football player .

Athletic career

Sidler moved from Zug to FC Grenchen in 1950 for professional reasons . There the banker belonged once to the service providers and was promoted to captain in the National League A . In 1959 he led the team supervised by coach Franz Linken in the final of the Swiss Cup on the field. With a 1-0 win over Servette FC Genève , the club won its first national title. As second in the table behind BSC Young Boys , the club missed the double as in the following year after returning to the final with a 0-1 defeat against FC Luzern, successfully defending their title in the national cup competition.

This was his only national team appearance.

In 1963 Sidler moved to FC Olten and later became an honorary member of FC Grenchen.
