Fritz Viering

Fritz Christian Viering (born November 3, 1910 in Barop ; † July 13, 1984 in Detmold ) was a German Protestant Reformed theologian and from 1970 to 1979, among other things, regional superintendent of the Lippe regional church .

Life

After completing his theology studies in 1936, Viering took the first theological exam in front of the examination office of the Confessing Church in the Rhineland and then worked as an assistant at the University of Tübingen and as a research assistant at the Evangelical Union . In 1938 he was promoted to Dr. theol. PhD. After his ordination in 1939, he was assistant preacher and pastor's representative in Dortmund-Barop until he was drafted into military service in June 1941. From 1943 to 1962 he worked as a pastor in Hilbeck , from 1947 also as superintendent of the Hamm church district and from 1960 as a member of the church leadership of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia . In 1957 he completed his habilitation in systematic theology and has since taught as a private lecturer at the University of Münster . In 1962 he was appointed to the position of senior consistorial councilor in the church chancellery of the Evangelical Church of the Union in Berlin. In 1970 he took over the management of the Lippische Landeskirche, based in Detmold, as state superintendent. From 1971 to 1973 Viering was a member of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany . At times he also acted as deputy moderator of the Reformed League and as chairman of the Arnoldshainer Conference .
