Fritz Welch

Fritz Welch (* around 1980) is an American jazz and improvisation musician ( drums , percussion , also vocals , live electronics ).

Welch, who grew up in Texas and lived in Brooklyn for many years, worked in various European experimental and improvisation projects from the 2000s onwards. a. in the duos Fvrtvr with Guido Henneböhl , Brothers Peeesseye (with Chris Forsyth ), Pee In My Face With Surgery (with Jaime Fennelly ); with the two he also played in the Trio Peeesseye . He realized other projects with Tim Olive . He also belonged to the trios Ki (with Takahashi Michiko , Tamio Shiraishi ), Lambs Gamble (with Eric Boros , George Cremaschi ), Muris With Lumps (with Liene Rozite , Neil Davidson ). With Davidson he also formed the duo With Lumps . In the course of his career he has also performed with Evan Parker , Crank Sturgeon , Tamio Shiraishi, Joke Lanz , Stephen O'Malley , Maya Dunietz , Michael Vorfeld , Tony Conrad , Iancu Dumitrescu and Ana-Maria Avram . Welch lives in Glasgow, where he performed in a trio with Daniel Carter and George Lyle at the Glasgow Counterflows Festival in 2015 ( So Long Farewell Repair - Live at the Glad Cafe ).
