Fritz Zimmermann (lawyer)

Fritz Zimmermann (born August 20, 1905 in Vienna ; † August 14, 1993 there ; also Friedrich Zimmermann ) was an Austrian lawyer and historian . He was state press officer for Burgenland .

Life

Fritz Zimmermann headed the press office of the Burgenland Provincial Government from 1945 to 1965 . From its founding year 1949 to 1972 he was editor-in-chief of the magazine Burgenländisches Leben , which was published by the Austrian Burgenland Association until 1987 . In the publication Zimmermann repeatedly campaigned for the German-speaking population of Hungary ("Eastern Burgenland") and denounced the grievances in Hungary in this context. Protests from Budapest ultimately led to Fritz Zimmermann being persuaded by Governor Hans Bögl to resign from the position of State Press Officer.

Zimmermann was buried at the Vienna Central Cemetery .
