Hans Bögl (born June 19, 1899 in Neufeld an der Leitha ; † August 13, 1974 in Eisenstadt , Burgenland) was an Austrian social democratic politician and governor of Burgenland.

Life

Born in the then Hungarian part of the Danube Monarchy, Bögl learned the metalworking trade and worked as an assistant in the Böhler works in Sollenau and in the Neufelder coal mine. From 1918 he became involved in the Free Trade Union movement and became a member of the Hungarian Social Democratic Party.

During the First Republic , Bögl became chairman of the regional organization of the socialist youth workers in Burgenland in 1922, 1927 regional party secretary of the SdAP Burgenland in 1927 and member of the Burgenland state parliament (1927-1934). His political career was interrupted by the political events of 1934–45 ( Austrofascism 1933 / 34–1938, annexation of Austria to the Third Reich in 1938, World War II from 1939 to 1945).

In 1945 Bögl was mayor of the city of Ybbs in Lower Austria for a short time , where he had been involved in the construction of the Ybbs- Persenbeug power plant during the last years of the Nazi regime and where he had founded a resistance group. From October 1945 Bögl was again prominently active in his closer home, namely as a member of the provisional state government and remained a member of the Burgenland state parliament until 1962. He was Deputy Governor of Burgenland from 1962 to 1962, and as Governor of Burgenland from June 12, 1964 to June 28, 1966. From June 9, 1959 to December 14, 1962, Bögl was a member of the Austrian National Council.
