Josef Rauhofer
Josef Rauhofer (born September 28, 1875 in Mattersdorf , † February 24, 1939 in Baden ) was an Austrian politician ( CS) . Rauhofer from 1924 to 1927 governor of Burgenland and from 1927 to 1928 member of the National Council .
education and profession
Josef Rauhofer attended the Mattersdorf elementary school and then graduated from the Oberrealschule in Ödenburg and the Obergymnasium in Győr , where he completed his schooling in 1895 with the Matura. After he originally wanted to take up the profession of a Catholic clergyman, he studied at the Royal Academy of Law in Bratislava and graduated in 1899 with the academic degree abs. iur. from. He then did a legal internship in Sopron , Travnik and Bihać and passed the judge's examination at the Sarajevo Supreme Court . After his work as adjunct at the district courts of Cazin and Sarajevo, he moved to the Bosnian state government in 1906 and was then from 1907 an official of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian state railways. As a result, he worked from 1912 to 1917 in the department for general administrative and personal matters of the provincial government in Sarajevo, where he was appointed to the government in 1914 . After a short time as a civil servant in the Ministry of Nationalities in Budapest, Rauhofer switched to the Austrian civil service on October 1, 1919 and was employed in the Ministry of the Interior as head of the literary office in the Burgenland Service. From November 7, 1921, he was a member of the board of the Ödenburger Heimatdienst, was appointed court councilor on August 11, 1921 and worked as a voting commissioner in Sopron. From January 3, 1922, he was Robert Davy's representative and provisional director in Bad Sauerbrunn , head of the state border office and on April 1, 1923, he was appointed personnel officer of the Burgenland state government.
From 1923 to 1929 Rauhhofer was the first chairman of the newly founded state fire brigade association .
politics
Rauhofer was the first deputy chairman of the Christian Social Party in Burgenland between April 14, 1921 and November 1921 and co-founder of the Burgenland People's Party in 1922. He ran for the Burgenland Farmers' Union ( Landbund ) in the regional elections in Burgenland in 1922 and was originally intended as a regional councilor in the Burgenland regional government. After he had rejoined the Christian Social Party in 1923, he represented it from November 13, 1923 to May 20, 1927 in the Burgenland Landtag. After that he was Governor of Burgenland from January 4, 1924 to January 10, 1928, whereby his term of office was interrupted by several resignations . In addition, Rauhofer was a member of the National Council between May 18, 1927 and January 17, 1928.
