Frode Loftesnes

Frode Loftesnes (born July 21, 1973 in Bergen ) is a former Norwegian basketball player .

Life

Loftesnes left his home country in 1993 to combine competitive sports and studies in the United States . He did this at Rollins College , Florida . He played for Rollins' basketball team in the second NCAA division until 1997 . The Norwegian then hit a professional career, played in the 1997/98 season for the Solna Vikings in Sweden and 1998/99 for the UBC Mattersburg in Austria .

In 1999 the 2.08 meter tall indoor player moved from the Austrian to the German Bundesliga to TSK Universa Bamberg . In Bamberg he was a top performer with 11.1 points per encounter, but initially left the team again after a year and was in the service of the Greek second division Larissa, then the Italian A2 club Popolare Ragusa, before he went to the 2000/01 season Bamberg returned and averaged 5.8 points per game by the end of the 2000/01 game year.

Loftesnes continued his career in France , trained in the fall of 2001 with the French first division side Cholet Basket , but received no contract and moved to the second division side Besançon Basket, where he played for a short time before he played for the Ulriken Eagles in his home country Norway. He then joined the Frøya Ambassadors in Norway. In the 2003/04 season he achieved an average of 22.2 points and 12.7 rebounds per encounter and was named Center of the Year in the Norwegian league by the basketball news provider eurobasket.com . In the summer of 2004 and 2005, Norwegian newspapers reported that the Frøya Ambassadors owed Loftesnes tens of thousands of crowns due to economic difficulties.

National team

Loftesnes took part in the European Championship elimination rounds with Norway's national team.
