The Mayotte national football team is the football selection from the island of Mayotte , off the coast of East Africa . As French territory , the Football Federation, founded in 1979, is a regional subdivision of the French , but not a member of the World or Continental Federation ( CAF ).
Mayotte has only played a few games in its history. The games took place exclusively against the neighboring countries or areas of Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles and Réunion. In addition, the national selection took part in the Coupe de l'Outre-Mer , held from 2008 to 2012 , the competition for national teams from France's overseas territories . Mayotte was able to place fourth in 2010 and 2012.
At a U-18 tournament in 2001, a combined selection from Mayotte and Réunion came under the name France de l'Océan India .
In 2007 the team reached third place at the Indian Ocean Games, a soccer tournament which was held as part of the Indian Ocean Island Games.
Mayotte's national stadium is the Stade Cavani in Mamoudzou , with a capacity of 5,000. The most successful teams in the first division are AS Sada, FC Kani-Bé and Rosador Passamainty. These take u. a. participated in the French coupe of the Champions d'Outre-Mer club .
The country's best- known national player is Toifilou Maoulida .
