The Fuhlensee west of the town of Strande in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district is a lake in Schleswig-Holstein - it is located on the west bank of the Kiel Fjord near Kiel-Schilksee .

The Fuhlensee has an irregular oval shape that runs from southwest to northeast. It has a length of approx. 600 m and a maximum width of approx. 300 m. It has a size of about 14.5 hectares and is surrounded by a spacious lowland, to which the Heischer valley , which extends to the south, belongs.

Tributaries

The Fuhlensee has three tributaries: from the west the Dänischenhagener Au or Mühlenaue , from the north the outflow of the lakes of the Eckhof estate and from the south the 1,500 meter long drainage ditch of the Heischer Tal s. The Dänischenhagener Au is the main tributary. It drains the entire communities of Dänischenhagen and Felm , Postkamp, ​​in particular the Knooper Holz, the Felmer Moor and the Kaltenhofer Moor.

Drain

In the southeast, the Fuhlensee drains via the Fuhlenau into the Baltic Sea, 400 m away . The Fuhlenau is piped shortly before reaching the Baltic Sea and flows between the sheet pile walls of the substructure of the northern mole of the sports boat harbor of the Schilksee Olympic Center and flows into the Baltic Sea about 200 m from the shore.
