Full House (Original title: Rags to Riches ) is an American dramedy - television series , which was produced from 1987 to 1988. It consists of two seasons and a total of 20 episodes.
The series is not to be confused with the produced also since 1987, far more successful and also in the original English title Full House called sitcom .
action
Nick Foley is a successful entrepreneur who lives in New Jersey with his British butler, John Clapper. He heads Foley's Frozen Foods , a company that produces frozen foods. In order to acquire the image of a family man himself, he decides to take in six girls from dysfunctional social backgrounds. These would have been separated from the youth welfare office if Foley hadn't taken them all in together.
First, both the girls and Nick Foley have to live together. Originally planned only on a temporary basis, Nick develops an affection for them and eventually adopts them. The girls are very musical. In each episode they reveal their emotional life by singing songs , similar to the TV series Glee . Since the series takes place in the 1960s, these are well-known titles from that period with modified text.
Emergence
Although the series is set in New Jersey, it was shot in California . Nick Foley's mansion is on Arden Road in Pasadena . Originally there were six girls in the ensemble, but after the pilot, the producers came to the conclusion that six girls were too many. The character of Nina, who only played Heather McAdam in the first episode, has been deleted.
German title
The series was much better-known even before, even in the original English Full House called sitcom purchased by Germany, whose production began in the same year, but in September 1987, six months after Rags to Riches , celebrated its pilot.
However, Rags to Riches couldn't come close to rivaling in popularity and success. The desired ratings were not achieved, so that after just two seasons, 20 episodes and less than ten months of production time, the end came.
