Fundada is a town and municipality in central Portugal .

history

The area was settled and administered by the Knights Templar in the 13th century after the Medieval Reconquista .

The community Fundada was created in 1618 by spinning off from the community of Vila de Rei. Fundada parish church was first mentioned in 1758, and it was rebuilt in 1867.

In 1810 French troops marched through the municipality during the Napoleonic invasions .
