Furcraea selloa is a species of the genus Furcraea in the subfamily of the agave family (Agavoideae). The specific epithet selloa honors the German gardener, botanist and explorer Friedrich Sello .

description

Furcraea selloa forms 90 to 155 centimeter high trunks. The numerous spread out, narrowly lanceolate to sword-shaped leaves narrow sharply towards their base. Your somewhat glossy dark green, concave and bent back or folded, very rough leaf blade is about 100 to 125 centimeters long and 7 to 10 centimeters wide. The hooked brown marginal teeth are curved differently. They are 5 to 6.5 millimeters long and about 3.3 to 4 centimeters apart.

The loosely branched, bald inflorescence reaches a height of up to 6 meters and bears plenty of bulbils . The flowers are 40 to 65 millimeters long. Your tepals are about 25 millimeters long. The ovary has a length of about 17 millimeters.

Fruits and seeds are not described.

Systematics and distribution

The distribution area of Furcraea selloa is not exactly known. The species has been described using cultured material that appears to have come from Quetzaltenango , Guatemala . According to R. Govaerts, it is based in Colombia and Ecuador.

The first description by Karl Heinrich Koch was published in 1860. Furcraea selloa is classified in the genus in the section Furcraea .
