Furnes is a place in the municipality of Ringsaker in the province of Innlandet in Norway .
history
Furnes, located between Hamar and Brumunddal , gained its independence from the municipality of Vang in 1891. In 1964 the municipality of Furnes was dissolved again and it was incorporated into Ringsaker . The name of the place goes back to the Norwegian word for pine ( Furu in Norwegian ).
Attractions
In Furnes there is a stone church with 390 seats. The completion of the church, for the construction of which also rubble stones from Hamar Cathedral were used, took place according to plans from 1697 within five years between 1702 and 1707. On July 12, 1708, the new church was consecrated by Bishop Hans Munch . From 1876 to 1878 the church was extensively restored by the Norwegian architect Paul Due .
