Gérard Lelièvre

Gérard Lelièvre (born November 13, 1949 in Laval , Département Mayenne ) is a former French walker .

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he was ninth in the 20 km walk . In 1979 he won gold at the Mediterranean Games over the same distance .

At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, he started over the 50 km distance , but did not reach the goal.

In 1982 he was fourth over 20 km at the European Athletics Championships in Athens , in 1983 he was fifth over the same distance at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki and won silver at the Mediterranean Games. The following year, he decided to start twice at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles , but did not get past 15th place over 20 km and gave up again over 50 km.

At the end of his career, he won the World Indoor Athletics Games in Paris in 1985 over 5000 m.

After his active career, he became a coach and now looks after the French walkers as national coach.

In total he won 13 national titles in a row over 20 km (1972-1984), plus ten over 50 km (1973-1977, 1979-1983) and seven in the hall over 5000 m (1978-1984).
